Launch teardown: Rdyrct
Unsolicited teardown, not an endorsement. Ship Plainly wrote this from public pages only. The maker hasn't asked for, seen, or approved it, and isn't affiliated with us. Quotes are verbatim as read on the dates below.
Launch, as the pages show it (read Wed Oct 21, 2026, ~9:40 AM CDT)
- Launched on Product Hunt Mon Oct 19, 2026 (PH lists it as scheduled for 12:01 AM PT that day), the maker's first PH launch: https://www.producthunt.com/products/rdyrct-url-shortener-for-teams
- Name on PH: "Rdyrct - URL Shortener for Teams". Tagline: "Shorten a link. See who clicks it." (On Oct 17 the plain
/products/rdyrctURL returned 404; it still does, because the listing uses the longer slug.) - What the PH page showed on Oct 21: "Launched this week", 3 points and 9 followers, and a launch offer badge, "50% off 3 mo. First 100". Nothing else is claimed here.
- The maker posted his own after-launch numbers on X on Oct 21 (https://x.com/baronunread/status/2112854779537838318). Those are his self-reported figures, not from the PH page.

What it is, from the public pages: open-source short links and QR codes with click analytics that never store IP addresses, on your own domain, with a free hosted plan, paid plans from $4/mo, or self-hosting on Cloudflare.
What's working
- The best "what if I stop paying?" section we've read: "Stop paying and nothing gets deleted." It's followed by a Day 0 / Day 23 / Day 30 timeline, and "a code printed with an rdyr.cc link keeps working."
- Self-hosting in the same plain voice: "Yes, you can run it yourself." "We are not going to email you about it."
- Privacy said in one breath: "No IP addresses stored." in the hero subhead.
- New since Oct 17: a plain PH tagline. "Shorten a link. See who clicks it." is short and concrete.
What we'd change next
1. One headline (now there are three)
- Now: the page title says "Free URL shortener and QR code generator". The H1 says "Know which channel earned the click." The PH tagline went with the page's second headline, "Shorten a link. See who clicks it."
- Problem: three promises in three places. "Know which channel earned the click." is the one nobody else is leading with.
- Fix: pick one and use it everywhere (title, H1, PH, X bio). Keep "URL shortener" in the subhead for search.
2. Move the two best lines up
"Stop paying and nothing gets deleted." and "Yes, you can run it yourself." still sit near the bottom of the page (re-checked Oct 21). They answer the two quiet fears people have about link tools: lock-in, and dead printed QR codes.
- Fix: put them in the hero, or right under it.
3. Answer "why not Bitly or Dub?" in one line
The compare pages (Bitly, Rebrandly, Short.io, Dub) are still only linked from the footer.
- Fix: one plain sentence near the top, linking the compare page.
